Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about EV charging

Common questions answered for property owners, condominium JMCs, retail operators, and corporate facility directors.

What does an EV charger operator like SkyVolt actually do?

SkyVolt designs, installs, and operates EV charging infrastructure end-to-end. This includes initial electrical load assessment, Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) compliance design, dedicated EV-DB supply, hardware mounting, cellular M2M telemetry, real-time driver billing with WhatsApp receipts, and 24/7 cloud support.

What is the difference between Residential, Public and Employee EV charging?

Residential and Public EV charging both provide open, tap-to-charge access for any resident or visitor. Employee EV charging is an HR-managed corporate model where authorized employees charge using pre-allocated company credit wallets, with full reporting for corporate accounting.

What is the difference between AC and DC fast chargers?

AC chargers (typically 7kW–22kW) are destination chargers ideal for locations where vehicles dwell for 1 to 6 hours (such as condominiums, shopping malls, medical centres, and offices). DC fast chargers (40kW–120kW+) provide rapid battery top-ups for shorter stops and commercial transport fleets.

Do property owners need to pay upfront for charger installation?

It depends on your commercial preference. SkyVolt provides zero-upfront-capital turn-key options for qualified public-access sites, hybrid co-investment partnerships, and direct turn-key equipment purchase models with full client control. Exact feasibility is confirmed during your free site audit.

Are SkyVolt installations compliant with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) standards?

Yes. Every SkyVolt installation includes a dedicated EV Distribution Board (EV-DB) engineered strictly to Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) guidelines, equipped with Shunt Trip Emergency Stop, MCBs, and Type B RCCB residual current protection.

Can drivers charge without downloading an app?

Yes. Drivers can simply tap any contactless bank card (Visa/Mastercard) or scan a QR code to start charging. Charging confirmations and digital receipts are delivered automatically via WhatsApp.

How long does site installation and commissioning take?

Standard installations typically take between 2 to 4 weeks from proposal approval to final safety testing and commissioning, depending on cable routing distance and authority approval requirements.

What ongoing maintenance and warranty is provided?

All SkyVolt deployments include comprehensive hardware warranty coverage, proactive 24/7 cloud fault monitoring, auto-roaming M2M cellular connectivity, and dedicated on-site engineering support.
